Lori Salzer, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, Data Manager 20140930 Seal and Sea Lion Haulouts - HAULOUTLOCATION_SV vector digital data The Seal and Sea Lion Haulout Database contains information on documented locations for Harbor Seal, California Sea Lion, Steller Sea Lion and Northern Elephant Seal.These generalized polygons were based on data collected during aerial, ground and boat surveys conducted by personnel from Washington Department of Fish & Wildlfie (WDFW), National Marine Fisheries Service and Cascadia Research. This database represents information from 1998 to 2013. Scope of the database is marine areas in Washington. Haulout polygons boundaries are generalized and documented to the best of our knowledge. All buoys are buffered by 12 ft. This dataset does not represent a complete inventory of all haulout sites in Washington, but those that were encountered during routine surveys from 1998 to 2013. This database contains information on species locations with direct regulatory implications. The locations of species may change over time. WDFW updates information as additioanl data become available. To insure appropriate use of this information, users are encouraged to consult with WDFW biologists.
